You Matter
Each prayer, encouraging word, and donation means more to us than we could ever tell you. We keep track of every one so that one day as we tell our child the story of their adoption we will be able to show them that they were loved long before they became part of us. We want them to know of all the people who made bringing them home possible. We are blessed and our child will be as well.
In less than two weeks we have sold over 60 tshirts and over 100 pounds of BBQ. We are so grateful to all that have bought and made other donations.
I used to think fundraisers were pushy. I am not good at it. I am not a pushy person. But over the past week my attitude has changed. Perspective is everything. I met a lady last night and as we talked our adoption came up. It turns out she actually used to do the fundraising for Bethany (the agency we are using). As we talked and I shared my inexperience at serious fundraising she said to me, “I never have trouble fundraising for something I really believe in.” That sentence replayed in my head all night.
We will continue to ask for support. You will continue to see posts and get tired of our constant pleas. Why? Because for adoptive parents that first application is like the positive on the pregnancy test. That first payment is like the first ultra sound and the rest of the process is like a series of hurdles you have to overcome or wait through until you can bring that baby home. One of those hurdles is the cost of adoption, and just like any parent we will move heaven and earth to bring our baby home. Right now we eat, sleep, and breathe fundraisers, and that’s okay because IT’S SOMETHING WE BELIEVE IN.
We will always be grateful for the money people can give, but we are also so encouraged by the prayers and kind words. Don’t underestimate the impact you are having as you are allowing God to use you to minister to us. We are humbled by your love and generosity and reassured everyday that we serve a God with whom ALL things are possible.
