Our Story

n May 2010 we met in Guatemala of all places. I was serving as an intern, and Nick was leading a mission team. For Nick, it was love at first sight. For me, it was love by the end of the week. I was drawn to Nick’s selfless love for those around him and dedicated service to God. We began a very long distance dating relationship and were engaged that November.

We were married in May 2011, one year almost to the day after we met. Nick was called as student pastor to East Paris Baptist Church in Paris, TX, and I accepted a job as a high school math teacher. Paris was where our young marriage grew into a solid reliance on God’s will for our family. Paris and the people there will always have a special place in our lives because that is where we started. We would have been happy living in Paris for the rest of our lives.

However, as we have learned in other areas of our lives, God’s plan sometimes takes us places we never expected. In June 2013, Nick accepted a call from Sharon Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, and I started working for my alma mater. God’s guidance is perfect. It was His leading that brought us to a place where we could work with Doctors Glover and Keenan. Although we never got pregnant under their care, we will always appreciate all the hard work and the impact they made in our lives. When we moved to Knoxville, we bought our first house and are blessed to be surrounded by family. God has placed in us a love for the people at Sharon that matches the love we felt for the people at East Paris.
